"The OT" featuring the Tight Lipped Andrew Vlahov

In this week's episode of "The OT" we catch up with Perth Wildcat mastermind Andrew Vlahov. He is rumoured to be filling a position in the front office of the New NBL so DJ Rod and I ask the tough questions.

He also talks about his desire to improve the Boomers profile here in Australia.

Vlahov is very tight lipped about it all but you can read between the lines to some degree.

Download and enjoy the interview, while we also preview the New Year's round of games and look at the recent player movement around the league.

Casey Calavy went to Spain after the Crocs. After a season there he decided to stop playing basketball. He and his family now live and work in Spokane, Wa.

Thanks for that info JR. Its interesting hearing what former players are up to. Especially being fans that yell and support these players while there here. Any idea what clarence tyson is up to? Maybe that could be a new part of your blog. ha ha.

ps you are the man in the know

DJ ROD:

Would you Believe me when I say he has a business venture of his own interests in mind to make money, which he wants the boomers fully commited to and the NBL will be next. You will see once he gets the job how bad it will be. Good player, but he is a dodgy bastard behind closed doors, I've had personal dealings with him and had some sponosors and VIP clients through our company have him lead a trip to watch the boomers play the usa this past pre olympics in Shanghai. They were not impressed to say the least. Ill leave it at that, but if only you knew what went on over there you would be sick to your stomach. So to answer your Q, yes it would make things even WORST.

Even Worse sorry for the mistake

I think the Boomers are a very important part of the NBL moving forward... the best players we have, promoting the sport of bball.

I know Hoffa has business interests that will benefit from this - he talks about it on THE OT.

He is open with that info.

I also know that he has a very heavy handed way of doing things... ask Cameron Tovey :)

The USA v Aus game - I'd love to know - djrod@djrod.com.au

What does Vlahov being a Stanford graduate have to do with anything? Was he at Stanford on an academic scholarship or an athletic one? Am I missing something?

Rick Burton was a disaster and he was impeccably credentialed. I don't care where someone went to school, but if they get the job done that's what counts. One warning though, if he gets it wrong at this stage, the NBL is done.
